We are excited to once again offer a variety of classes for our Tri-City adults. We have outstanding teachers who have given us different options of studies in God’s Word for our personal edification.
Please notice that some classes are book studies and some classes are topical. This is by design. You have the opportunity to study verse by verse through a particular book of the Bible or to survey what the Bible teaches about a specific topic. We have specialty classes for our college-age singles, our ladies, and our young couples.
It is very important for everyone to be in Sunday school. That teaching and fellowship time helps us to better learn and live God’s Word.
• “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17).
• “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
• “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8).
• “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17).
• “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (II Timothy 3:16-17).
These Scriptures and more show us the importance of learning God’s Word and living God’s Word.

BOOK STUDIES
MARK: THE PORTRAIT OF A SERVANT – Part 3 – Pastor Webber (Auditorium)
The Gospel written by Mark was quite likely the earliest of the four Gospels. It introduced the world to a brand new genre of literature: the “gospel,” a book of “good news.” It takes us back to a time before the organized church, before the appointment of clergy, to the infancy of Christianity when twelve privileged individuals walked closely in personal relationship with Jesus, the Son of God. Mark paints the portrait of a benevolent minister who serves the needs of His people and in the end even dies for them. Join us as we finish our study of the Gospel According to Mark: the Portrait of a Servant. This class is also available for Bible College credit.
LUKE: WALKING WHERE JESUS WALKED – Continued – David Shambaugh (S11)
Have you ever taken a trip to Israel and walked where Jesus walked? You might not be able to do that, but as we study the Gospel of Luke we will "Walk Where Jesus Walked". From His miraculous birth to His resurrection and ascension we will meet the people Jesus impacted, learn the lessons He taught, and live the passion He had to fulfill His Father’s plan for us. Come and join us on this walk through the Gospel of Luke.
PSALMS – Continued – Ron Raymer/David Leeper (S6-8)
Sad to say, there is much ignorance in the church today in regard to the Psalms and the Old Testament in general. Today’s believer is more interested in what patches a blemish in their Spiritual journey than to establish a foundation capable of weathering the storms and building a life that is in close fellowship with the Lord. The book of Psalms is in the heart of the Bible and not by accident. It reveals to us the mind of God. The Psalms are divided into 3 books. The first book consists of Psalms 1 through 41 and deals with ‘man’. We have yet to complete this first book and would like to during this summer series. We have studied the emotional trauma that man encounters when exhausted, betrayed, discouraged or enduring life’s storms. We have studied the blessings of steadfast living and the joy of God’s forgiveness.
This summer series will include facing opposition, giving and taking counsel, remorse, and when to open your mouth and when to keep it shut. It is never too late to join us in this study, and we invite you to do so if you are not involved in one of the other classes.
TOPICAL STUDIES
TOPIC: VICTORY IN JESUS – Ron Leeper (S-26, 28)
“Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” In this study we will see that God has not only given us victory over death, but by applying Bible truths we can experience victory over fear, adversity, the power of sin, and in many other areas of our Christian life. Come join us each Sunday as we encourage one another through this study to live a life of victory through Jesus Christ.
TOPIC: THE PARABLES OF JESUS – Rod Albert (S-14)
Jesus often communicated truth through His example--a holy life lived for the Father's glory. Sometimes He gave clear teaching regarding how we should live. Still, on some occasions, Jesus spoke in stories with veiled truths that often left His hearers confused and perplexed. This study will survey some of our Lord's most famous parables and show how these timeless truths can be applied today.
SPECIALTY CLASSES
COLLEGE FOCUS - SINGLES CLASS: GOD IS MORE THAN ENOUGH – Tim Boase (S5)
We will be studying a book entitled God is More Than Enough by Jim Berg, which is a condensed version of the Quieting a Noisy Soul counseling program. This book will open our eyes to the “noise” that is in our lives. The level of the “noise” in our lives is a direct indicator of the depth of the relationship that we have with Christ. Once we have discovered the various sources of “noise” in our lives, we will learn how to biblically silence these distracters so we can have a greater fellowship with God. As we deepen our understanding of who God is, the truth of the title will become more apparent: God is more than enough for us.
CAREER GROUP - SINGLES CLASS: MORAL DECISION MAKING AND THE CHRISTIAN: FORMING A BIBLICAL ETHIC IN AN UNBIBLICAL SOCIETY – Chris McAviney (S25)
Secular thinking poses a very powerful influence on Christians today. In a society where we are bombarded with unbiblical worldviews, it is crucial for Christians to know where they stand on key issues facing the church. In our class, we will walk through key passages of Scripture relating to ethical concerns facing our society and discuss the biblical ethics surrounding them. We will lay out a basic system of biblical ethics and focus on issues such as Christian liberty, entertainment, murder, environmentalism, racism, and diversity, and discover the Christian’s need for moral decision making. As we study biblical ethics, we will seek to solidify our beliefs so we can articulate them in an unbibilcal world.
LADIES CLASS: PSALMS - Brenda Swofford/Norma Danforth (S16)
Join us as we spend the next 12 weeks basking in the richness of the Psalms. Reading, studying, memorizing, meditating on and praying through the Psalms will help tutor you in a lifestyle of praise and worship. Spend the summer with us as we cultivate a greater intimacy with God!
YOUNG COUPLES CLASS – Pastor Bishop (Cafeteria)
The goal of the Young Couples Class will be to provide fellowship and support as we share Biblical principles each week that will aid us in laying the foundation stones of our Christian homes. The class is designed to help us build a strong foundation and to establish Biblical philosophy and practices in the areas of marriage relationships, child rearing and finances. Christian families are oftentimes overwhelmed by our secular culture, and our children and marriages are paying the price. The Bible has much to say about these three areas, and it will be our goal to undergird each member of the class as they seek to lay a strong foundation for their homes.
