Ed and Jan were both raised in a Christian home, saved at an early age and surrendered their lives to Christ during their teen years. They attended Bob Jones University and graduated in 1979 and 1980. They joined Baptist Mid-Missions in the Fall of 1982, and after three years of deputation, arrived in Brazil in 1986. After completing one year of language study in the city of Sao Paulo in 1987, they moved one hour west to the city of Sorocaba, a city of over 450,000 without an Independent Fundamental Baptist church. They are now working in their fourth church plant.
