Joshua is the first of five children. When he was five or six, he came to understand his personal need of accepting Christ's work on the cross and was saved by grace. Though Joshua's biblical education was limited through his years in public high school, the transforming and convicting work of the Holy Spirit was at work in his heart protecting and preserving Him. His time as a student at Bob Jones University was a time of rapid spiritual growth.
Laurel is the first of four children. She came to know Christ as her Savior when she was seven. She came under deep conviction, knowing that her sin was worthy of punishment in Hell. When Laurel's mother recognized her daughter's distress, she kept Laurel back from school to carefully explain the gospel. That day Laurel trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior.
God brought Joshua and Laurel together while they were underclassmen at Bob Jones University. But it was not until seven years later, when Joshua was teaching over in Korea, that he finally started to pursue the possibility of a more serious relationship with Laurel. After several visits during Christmas and summer breaks, Joshua and Laurel were married on May 26, 2006. They lived together in Korea for a year before they returned to the United States to prepare for ministry in Romania.
God laid Romania on Joshua's heart in 2004 when he watched a documentary on the exploitation of street children in Eastern Europe. Laurel's burden for Europe developed over several years, while engaging in short term missions trips to Poland and Latvia. God used a survey trip in 2007 to confirm Joshua's and Laurel's burden for Romania. They hope to exalt the name of Jesus Christ by displaying His power to save and to transform young people, calling them out of a life of slavery and sin unto a life of joyful service for the Lord in His church.
